Introduction to Psychology (PSY 100)
This is a basic introduction to the field and practice of psychology. Students will learn to:
1) define the basic principles, scope, history, and ethics of psychology as a scientific discipline;
2) demonstrate knowledge of the major domains in psychology; such as developmental, social, clinical, and community psychology;
3) discuss the role of psychology within other social and behavioral sciences;
4) demonstrate critical thinking and information literacy regarding psychological research
and theory;
5) integrate psychological principles to promote personal growth, social integration,
professional development, and academic growth within a program of study; 6) synthesize psychological principles and concepts through participation in research, civic engagement, and/or cultural engagement activities.
